Sweetie, we all know it's not about the Weight...so what is it Really?
Ladies & Gents!
Today, while I was walking, most brilliant moments come to me this way, I realized all of the things we blame on our body and on our weight. It is the perfect excuse, the perfect bail out. Yes, I've used it in the past, more than once. As I once thought that the root of all my psychological sufferings and insecurities were because of this.
My weight, my weight! Ahhh, poor weight, we give it such a hard time. If weight were a person it would need some serious counseling! Well it might not be a person but it is such an overused and abused word. If I had to be a word...I wouldn't choose this one!
Back on track now, "weight" is just a word that we use to cover up he real problem. A scape goat. The problem is never our weight, although it may cause other problems, the real problem is multilayered and it goes somewhat like this.
What you eat is a problem yet still this only scrapes the surface. For most of us, it is our feelings or other personal issues that we are not dealing with and thus we try to find comfort or ignore them by using the easiest tool that we know that works. What can we easily medicate ourselves with? Food! It is everywhere, it is convenient...of course... and our parents and caregivers have comforted us with food before, it does the trick!
(On a logical level weight loss theories make sense of course but personally they really irritate me. Yes, eat less, don't eat this eat more of that, portion control, exercise control..all true, all true...but I'm not a robot. I'm an intricate sensitive soul that might indeed benefit from being more rational but I accept me the way I am and that opens a thousands of buds...
Yes another problem with "weight" gain...trying to solve it by using methods that aren't you and not finding the TRUE & HONEST answers to it, because YES it hurts to go there...and NO you can't be stuffed or molded into a ready made diet plan box! You must find the REAL causes and create the REAL solutions that are for YOU!)
As a health practitioner I see weight as the symptom, so what are the causes?
Now take your weight out of the equation, what do you see? I know it takes guts to go there...but you can bring a friend if you like...no not the chocolate friend. I mean a real friend!
Do you see trouble at work, a broken heart, a repressed need, a call for a hug?
Sometimes looking at this directly or head on is a little over-whelming. Writing and drawing is to me a very soft and comforting tool. I'm a private person, I don't like to spill my guts out but we all need an outlet. Choose one that is comfortable for you that has nothing to do with FOOD or blaming it on your weight.
And if you are overeating, playing the blame game, or if you fell off the wagon again, don't sulk and batter yourself. Forgive yourself and move on.
Sweetie, we all know it's not about the weight...so what is it really?
With Love to You,
Gabrielle
